Pimped Wigged Out!

Critiqued by Lori | May 16, 2008 .

Kind of a lame title I know but the topic at hand is wigs.  My post lady who is currently undergoing radiation, went through chemo 4 years ago.  She was quite embarrassed when she lost her hair and if it wasn’t for wigs, she would have never left the house.

I can’t imagine going through something like that but I KNOW that I could not bare to let anyone see me without hair.  That may sound selfish but it is more of a lack of confidence than anything.  I can’t stand my hair short much less gone.  I know other women feel the same as I do so it’s great to know that wigs have come a LONG ways today.  You can get human hair wigs that look, well, more natural and human.

My mother-in-law was on her second treatment when she started losing her hair.  Unfortunately, she didn’t make it much past that but I KNOW she would have wanted one of those real hair wigs.  Not for vain reasons but to avoid those harsh stares from other people while shopping in her favorite store.

I’m glad to see products grow with the times and to help those who need it feel more self confident about themselves.  I’m curious, do you know anyone who has ever used a wig or is currently using a wig??  Would love for you to share your story.

When I cut the 18″ off of my hair I donated it to Locks of Love where they make real hair wigs for children. It’s hard ti imagine that someone is out there “wearing” your hair, but I’d do it again.

Ditto Leigh. I’ve donated my hair to LoL several times and will do it again, I’m sure. It makes me sad to think of women in this position, and I can’t imagine being without my hair. Everyone should donate their hair!
